The results are in from last week's public vote, which exceeded a 100,000 votes, for its favorite doodle from the My Egypt Doodle Competition , in which we invited orphans from across Egypt to design the Google logo around the theme "My Egypt"
Today, we're pleased to announce the winner: Sameh Fadel (15 years old) is from Al Shabat Al Muslemat Orphanage. His creation 'My Egypt' was selected for its artistry and creativity as well as for its interpretation of the theme. Sameh's doodle will replace our regular logo on our homepage tomorrow in commemoration of Orphan's Day, April 3rd. In addition to getting his doodle on the Egyptian Google homepage, Sameh will also be awarded a 3,000 L.E. certificate bond. The Lions Cairo Capital will also grant Sameh a 1,000 L.E certificate. Each of the other 4 finalists will receive 500 L.E.
We are also going to be providing drawing materials to the Al Shabat Al Muslemat Orphanage to be used as a way to further the creativity that emerged during this competition. As part of this effort volunteers from the German University of Cairo will b up a mentor program to provide drawing lessons for one year to these orphans.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the first Middle East Doodle 4 Google competition. We enjoyed seeing the creativity and imagination of kids across Egypt and hope you did too.
